Texas is known for quite a number of things. From barbeque to its sheer size to crude oil to the infamous Kennedy assassination, there’s a lot that this state can offer. When we hear the word Texas, we immediately think of Houston, Dallas, or perhaps Austin. After all, these are some of the top cities not only in the state but in the entire country as well. However, that is not to say that the small towns and communities are not worth visiting. Among such places is the small and humble city of Dripping Springs.

In this article, we will take you through some of the things that should be on your checklist when visiting the city. If you are interested, you can book your reservations for some of the best-valued cabin vacation rentals in Dripping Springs.

Dine at the Salt Lick Bar-B-Que

Of course, this would not be a complete guide without including an item related to food. As most of you may already know, the world-famous Texas-style barbeque is one of the best out there. As such, Salt Lick serves no less than perfectly smoked and incredibly juicy meats. This barbeque restaurant goes as far back as the mid-1800s, making it one of the pioneers in the area. On average, Salk Lick serves upwards of 2000 people each Saturday. As with most other barbeque chains around the state, they only open for a single day of the week, with all the other days allocated for food preparation. So, if you want to grab a bite of their brisket, pork ribs, and sausage, then be sure to free up one of your Saturdays.

Check out the Texas Hill Country Olive Company

Continuing the food trend, this next spot is an olive plantation that spans over 17 acres of land. This place is ideal for hosting various types of events like weddings, special dinners, parties, and recollections. Take a tour around the facility and learn more about their equipment, their methods, as well as the history of olive oil production. Afterward, you can munch down on some bread, sandwiches, and salads accompanied by olives and olive oils at the company’s on-site bistro.

Have a drink at the Treaty Oak Distilling

This distillery is home to the world’s longest-aged gin. With a facility that covers more than 27 acres of land, it is perhaps the best place to get a taste of the original whiskey and gin. The Treaty Oak has been in operation for more than a decade, and they stood true to their philosophy of “the pursuit of the curious.” Visit the on-site restaurant, grab a few cocktails at the bar, and enjoy the live bands.

Spend a day at Dreamland

Dreamland is an all-in-one spot. It combines amusement parks, art centers, leisure areas, and music venues into a single area of over 64 acres in coverage. One of the many popular activities to do in Dreamland is to play pickleball. Pickleball is a rather unique and quirky sport that combines both tennis and ping-pong. It’s very approachable because you can change the speed of the game, making it perfect for beginners and tourists who just want to know how it feels to play. Other facilities within Dreamland include the Dream Course, the Challenge Course, and the Art and Sculpture Garden.

Explore the Pedernales Falls State Park

This next location is located in Central Texas, and it is probably the most ideal place for your next outdoor exploration and adventure activity. This place is also home to the magnificent Pedernales Falls, which is a collection of beautiful water cascades that abruptly descend through layers of limestone and into the Pedernales River. Some of the most notable activities to do here include picnicking, geocaching, birdwatching, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
